How to Use Bumpi Games for 10 Minutes of Phonics Practice

A practical parent guide for using Bumpi’s Magic Letter Blocks and simple home activities to support early phonics practice.

Phonics practice does not need to feel like school at home. For toddlers and preschoolers, the goal is exposure, confidence, and playful repetition. A child can begin to notice that letters have sounds long before they are ready to read full books independently.

Bumpi’s Magic Letter Blocks is designed to make that first step friendly. The child sees a word, taps or drags letter blocks, hears gentle sound prompts, and celebrates when the word is complete. This guide shows parents how to turn that game into a simple 10-minute learning routine.

Minute 1: Pick one word

Start with one short word like CAT, DOG, SUN, or BED. Say the word out loud. Ask your child to repeat it if they want to, but do not force it. The goal is comfort.

Minutes 2–4: Find the first sound

Point to the first letter and say the sound. “C says /k/.” Then look for the matching block. If your child taps other letters first, stay calm. Exploration is part of learning.

Minutes 5–7: Build the word

Help your child place each letter in order. Use short phrases like “C first,” “A next,” and “T last.” Keep your voice warm and slow.

Minutes 8–10: Connect it to real life

After the word is complete, find something nearby with the same sound. If the word is BALL, look for bear, book, blanket, or block. This step helps children understand that letters are connected to real things, not just screen objects.

A strong phonics routine is not about rushing. It is about helping your child feel successful with letters. Which word will your Bear Buddy build first?
