Learn Colors with ROY G BIV

Meet Roy G. Biv — the friend who helps kids remember the colors of the rainbow, in order, every time.

Knowing the colors is one thing. Knowing them in rainbow order is a sequencing skill — and it has a built-in memory trick that kids have used for generations: the name ROY G BIV, whose letters stand for Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. In this Bumpi Tunes World video, Roy G. Biv introduces himself and the whole rainbow crew, naming the colors in order and then repeating them as a group, so kids hear the full sequence again and again until it sticks. It's a happy, bouncy next step for preschoolers who already know their first colors.

What kids learn

Order matters more than it might seem. Sequencing — first this, then that — is the same thinking kids will use for the alphabet, counting, and eventually reading. A rainbow is just the prettiest place to practice it.
